Mosquito control

Our pest control contractor will be fogging the development on May 25, 2012 with a pesticide to reduce the presence of mosquitoes that may contribute to dengue fever outbreaks. Open water will also be treated with a system to kill larvae.

Treatment will take place between the hours of 2:30am and 5:00am, the following guidelines should be observed by all residents:

  1. No persons and/or animals are to be outside during the fogging procedure treatment time.
  2. Close windows and doors during the fogging exercise, they should remain closed for 45 minutes after completion.
  3. Cover swimming pools and decorative water features.
  4. Place all pet feeding/watering bowls indoors.
  5. Turn off all fans and/or air conditioners or set them at exhaust.
  6. Persons and animals can go outside (if necessary) 45 minutes upon completion of the fogging activity. Note this is especially important for children, pregnant women and asthmatics.
  7. Rinse all household items/toys that were left outside before using them.

Online auction open until May 31st

Pursuant to the notice dated March 2 2012, abandoned items recovered from common areas that were stored at the maintenance compound are now in the process of being auctioned off. The items can be viewed in the ‘Sandyport Auctions’ window on the website home page where bids may be placed. Items include several trailers, a moped and a VW Beetle all with a starting bid of $1. The winning bidder must remit payment to the Association office where arrangements will be made for the release of the item. If payment is not made within 7 days of the auction end, the item will be offered to the losing bidders.

To view any of the items, contact security at the main entrance to make arrangements. For technical support on bidding, email support@sandyportmanagement.com.

Note that you can post a bid higher than suggested but the system will only bid what is necessary to win. Therefore if you post $100 on a $90 item, the system will bid $91. It will only increase your bid further if someone else bids a higher amount, say $92, and continue to auto-bid up until your maximum bid is reached. We suggest entering your maximum bid and allow the auto-bid feature to bid ‘on your behalf’ until it reaches your maximum bid.

Recent low water pressure concerns

There have been a number of occurrences of low water pressure which we have reported to Water & Sewerage Corporation. They have advised that they will send a technician to investigate the matter and ensure that no anomaly exists but that there have been several instances where they have had low water pressure occurrences due to water main breakages resulting from third party construction activities. They have also reported that with the ongoing roadworks on Prince Charles they have made several tie-ins causing water pressure to be affected across New Providence during the midnight and morning hours, which is sometimes extended into peak usage time.

Important Security Updates for May 1, 2012

We have introduced further measures to enhance the security of our community as follows:

Worker Identification

All workers (including housekeepers, gardeners, handymen etc.) are required to obtain a pass and enter the property via the service entrance. Occasional workers may obtain a day pass at the entrance subject to paying a $1 deposit (refunded on exit) and clearing security in the usual manner.

Contractors and regular workers, including those that are employed by contractors, are required to purchase an annual pass at a cost of $10 per annum (or $1 per month or part thereof if purchased during the year).

To qualify for a pass the applicant should obtain authorization from the property owner. In the event that the applicant is employed by a third party authorized by the owner, such as a contractor, that third party should make the application on behalf of its’ personnel.

The annual passes expire on December 31 at midnight. Call 327 6943 for further information.

Sample ID pass

Boat Identification

All boats belonging to Sandyport residents are required to be registered and obtain a vehicle identification decal from the main security office. Unregistered boats will be refused entry after May 31, 2012.

Canal Barrier

The barrier is closed between one hour before sundown and 30 minutes after sunrise. In the event that access is required during these hours, boaters are required to notify the Security department beforehand to schedule an arrival time.

In the event that boaters expect to arrive outside of the scheduled time, contact the Security department (327 6943 or channel 72) in advance to reschedule since opening the canal barrier is a multi-step process that takes some time. Preferably notice should be given before the barrier is due to close.

Automatic Entry Lane

Under normal operating circumstances the automatic entry lane barrier will not open unless the vehicle is fitted with the requisite barcoded decal. Those attempting to enter without a decal will need to reverse and enter via the regular entry lane. For further details on obtaining an automatic entry decal click here.
